Photograph is of Market Hall of New Westminster, which was built with bricks from Bowen Island. Market Hall was so named because the ground floor was originally used as a market for poultry and farm produce. The second floor featured a large Auditorium and stage. In 1898 the building became City Hall, and eventually the stage and auditorium were replaced by the mayor’s office. The building later became a library.
